After COVID vaccine, returning to 'normal' life is not so simple

When my friend reached for a hug, I flinched.
We were both newly and fully vaccinated and had spent a dreamy afternoon outside by her pool. Though our families hadn’t seen each other in more than a year, we slid easily back into our conversation, blessedly unmasked.
