Adventure Guides returns this fall to Mercer Island as Peak Adventure Guides. Adventure Guides is a father-child program designed to foster companionship and strengthen the relationship between kids and their dads. This fall, the Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club has taken on the Adventure Guides program with a name change to Peak Adventure Guides. Prior to the pandemic, the Island YMCA Guides had approximately 600 kids participating at any one time. First up on the activity front is an all-circle pumpkin carving and kickoff event at the Mercer Island Boys & Girls Club on Oct. 20. Mercer Islanders have been active in Guides starting in the 1950s.
