Since September, Melissa Clayton carried a bit of a secret: She had swung a deal on the network television show "Shark Tank."
The Acton entrepreneur was there to pitch The Matte, her idea to make life a bit simpler. When living in the Back Bay, Clayton found it a struggle getting ready in the morning - not enough space in the bathroom meant each morning was a balancing act.
The problem was solved by moving to a bigger house. So, The Matte was born. It's a shelf that, when folded, fits in a drawer. In use, it creates a work surface over the sink.
