The mystery of what happened to a 38-year-old Palm Bay man nearly 12 years ago  soon could be solved.
Palm Bay police dive team members converged Thursday on a retention pond in a Bayside Lakes subdivision after a resident using a drone spotted the car beneath the pond's ink dark waters.
The car, a silver 2002 Ford Mustang, slowly was pulled from the pond, allowing investigators to look inside the sediment-filled vehicle.
"There were remains in the car," said Lt. Jeff Spears of the Palm Bay Police Department.
The car belonged to 38-year-old Philippe Desir, a married Palm Bay resident who went missing Feb. 7, 2009.
