At the beginning of 2023, a team of designers and architects reached a milestone in the nascent 3D-printing housing industry. Using technology that is relatively new to the U.S., the group began constructing a 4,000 square foot, two-story home in a neighborhood of Houston using a massive 3D printer manufactured in Europe, marking the first time a multi-floor home was built using a 3D printer in the U.S., according to the team behind the project.
