At least three people are dead after a pickup truck carrying eight people crashed on Peck Road in Shalersville Township Sunday afternoon. The other five who were in the truck were hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the Ravenna Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol. The patrol said in a release that the truck crashed near 8176 Peck Road, just south of Gray Road, around 3:30 p.m. The scene was about a mile north of Route 88 and just over a mile due east of the Portage County Regional Airport. Troopers who responded said they found a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado off the east side of the road with severe damage after having struck a tree. The Silverado had eight occupants, three of whom died as a result of the crash.
