UTICA, N.Y. - A federal judge in New York issued a stipulation and order divesting creditors of their interest in two blocked bank deposit accounts, containing about $42 million total, held by Prominvestbank - a Russian bank registered in Kyiv with alleged ties to the Taliban - which were blocked due to sanctions imposed on Russia for its war against Ukraine. The funds will help satisfy the $138 million judgment issued in the Northern District of Texas against the Taliban, Al Qaeda and the Haqqani Network in favor of seven anonymous litigants.
