Deja vu. In the words of Ronald Reagan, Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free. While most veterans fully appreciate the reality that freedom is anything but free, far too many in society today take them for granted. Exhibit “A” is just how close we now are to opening the door to the potential for a genuine loss of freedom. Georgia’s Senate runoff elections have left me with a feeling of Déjà vu while watching it’s results on Election Day. Joe Biden carried the state by just under 12,000 votes. As of this entry, Jon Ossoff leads David Perdue by about 16,000 votes while Raphael Warnock has won his race with a 30,000+ vote margin. It’s the second time in two months Georgia has indicated clearly that its electorate isn’t the same as it used to be. Indeed, Georgia has flipped blue – at least for this cycle, driven by record participation among black voters. But back to the potential loss of freedom thing for a moment.
