HELP: The Hideaway in Prestwich, which was one of the outlets to benefit from Chancellor Rishi Sunak's Eat Out to Help Out scheme last August RECENTLY released figures show 141 restaurants cafes and food takeaways in Bury took advantage of the ‘Eat out To Help Out’ scheme last summer. On average, each outlet which participated in the borough claimed £9,800 from the government as diners enjoyed discounts on their meals. There were 270,000 meals consumed under the scheme, which was launched last August, with the average discount per meal coming out at £5.14. The cost of the discounts at Bury food venues was £1.38m, providing a boost to many struggling restaurants, pubs and cafes.
