As the saying goes, every woman is the author of her own story. These 13 women courageously authored inspiring stories through hardship, loss and less-than-stellar circumstances. Their wins inspired teams of writers and producers to bring their stories to the screen in the form of a Lifetime movie to remind us that our greatest challenges can ignite our greatest triumphs.
Coretta Scott King and Dr. Betty Shabazz:
Betty and Coretta
Coretta Scott King is often referred to as the woman "behind" the civil rights movement, but she was an integral part of it, even following her husband's assassination. After civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed on a hotel balcony in 1968, Coretta Scott King founded the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change and successfully lobbied the federal government to establish her husband's birthday as a federal holiday.
