BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Improvements are coming to Bellingham parks, including the installation of a new slide downtown.
Crews with the City of Bellingham are working to construct a play structure and slide in Maritime Heritage Park, located downslope of the stairway connecting the park amphitheater and the Whatcom Museum.
The structure will include a wide, 21-foot-long curving embankment slide with a 12-foot vertical drop, a stairway to get to the top again, and a second smaller, fully accessible slide and engaging play panels for younger kids.
Parks & Recreation Director Nicole Oliver hopes the fun activity will bring families and visitors from all over.
