The Abe Simmons Genealogy & North Carolina History Room is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 5:30pm and also the 3rd Saturday of each month from 11am to 5pm, but closed for lunch from 12:30pm-1:30pm.
Items in the Genealogy room are for reference only and may not be removed from the room..

Anyone over the age of five who lives, works , goes to school, or owns property in McDowell County may register to borrow materials.
To get a library card, bring one form of identification with your correct mailing address to the circulation desk.
A picture ID, preferably a valid drivers license, is suggested.
Children under 17 will need the signature of a parent or legal guardian.
People who live outside the county may get a library card by paying a fee of $15, renewable annually..
