As a tribal library, we possess uniqueness from other public libraries.
Tribal libraries serve multiple roles.
They preserve tribal culture and history for future generations including the preservation of culture, cultural and tribal knowledge base, language, and oral history as well as special collections of important tribal and governmental documents.
They develop collections that support culturally based curriculum and community members’ life-long learning needs.
They interpret and create library policies and services that reflect community needs and protocol.
They assist tribal members to develop reading skills, information literacy, and computer literacy.
They are also seen as information centers to help combat common societal problems such as unemployment, addictions, dropouts, and diseases.
Tribal librarians are an essential link between generations of the past and future..
