The idea of starting a scheme of coaching classes for Minorities was conveyed by the University Grants Commission in pursuance of the Government’s policy of bringing educationally backward minorities on par with the rest of the society and to make them participate fully in the activities of national development.
Accordingly, in 1984, the University Grants Commission formulated a scheme regarding coaching classes for competitive examinations for students belonging to weaker sections amongst educationally backward minority communities..

In order to meet the objectives as defined above and in pursuance of its mandate, the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning runs free coaching programmes for aspirants belonging to SC, ST, Women and Minority communities who wish to prepare themselves and compete for a variety of jobs, both academic and administrative, as also to pursue courses of studies in the areas of their choice.
The funding for the Centre is available from the University Grants Commission and Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India..
