Detailed description is Cass County/Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Court (DWI Court) Cass County Court and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Court have collaborated efforts to implement a Wellness Court with the mission to reduce the number of repeat substance dependent and DWI offenders by using a team approach in the court system.
Wellness Court coordinates the efforts of the Judge, Tribal Court Judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, law enforcement, social services, probation and treatment specialists to quickly identify and intervene with selected non-violent substance-abusing offenders in order to break the cycle of substance abuse, addiction and crime..

Wellness Court may be completed within 18 months for gross a misdemeanor offense or within 24 months for a felony offense.
Initial phases of the program are intensive intervention and will gradually transition to less intensive intervention as the participant progresses.
All phases involve frequent court appearances, random drug testing as well as group and family counseling.
