First Iranian COVID-19 vaccine starts clinical trial

15 March 2021 17:10 Share in: TEHRAN. KAZINFORM Phase 2 and 3 of clinical trial for the first Iranian coronavirus vaccine, COVIran Barakat, began on Monday with two voluntary receivers. Related news Moradvand, cardiologist, and Rasoulinejad, infectious disease specialist, are the two lecturers of Tehran University Medical Sciences who volunteered to receive the vaccine to begin phase 2 and 3 of its clinical trial, IRNA reports. Clinical Trial Center Manager in TUMC Dr. Hamed Hosseini told IRNA phase two of clinical trial for COVIran Barakat, developed by Executive Office of Imam Khomeini s Order, began today and the next phase would be carried out afterwards. He said that the vaccine has received required licenses from Food and Drug Administration of Iran National Committee for Ethics in Biomedical Research to start the phases.

KAZINFORM Efforts have been made to prepare the ground for injecting all volunteers in Iran with indigenous COVID-19 vaccine by the end of February 18 (end of Iranian month of Bahman), an official announced on Saturday. Related news Dr Hamed Hosseini, director of a center that is active in double-blind clinical studies at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, told IRNA in an interview that the injection of the first phase of the human trial of Iran-made COVID-19 vaccine will finish by February 18, IRNA reports. He referred to 56 as the number of volunteers for the first phase 35 of whom have already received injections.
