SALT LAKE CITY â Thereâs no way to encapsulate a $1.9 trillion dollar spending bill in a short story, but the video above walks through a number of the most important aspects of the American Rescue Plan to Utahns.
Below are the most important things for Utah residents to keep in mind:
DIRECT PAYMENTS: Direct money in the form of $1,400 dollar stimulus checks and child tax credits should come right into your bank account if you file taxes by direct deposit. If you get mailed checks they should come to you that way. Both will come from the IRS.

SALT LAKE CITY Banking experts are encouraging Utah s small businesses to look into applying for the new round of Paycheck Protection Program forgivable loans. We want to make sure that every small business in Utah comes out of this pandemic in a strong position, said Howard Headlee, president of the Utah Bankers Association.
Headlee said it s especially important that restaurants and hotels look into securing a second or first loan if they didn t participate the first time. Utah is a tourism and hospitality-driven state, Headlee said. They ve been hit the hardest, and this round, we can actually give them more money, so it s critical that they reach out to their bank and get going on this process so that they can get this kind of support.

Sterling Nielsen, president and CEO of Mountain America Credit Union, and
Natalie Kaddas, president and CEO of Kaddas Enterprises, served as moderators.
“We convened the Roadmap to Recovery Coalition to educate, inform, and advocate for policies that will help Utah businesses working through the pandemic,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “The relief provided in this legislation is needed greatly, and the Chamber has called for many of the provisions contained in the new bill to save Utah businesses and jobs for the people they employ.”
