Bradford Cinderella Club has been helping children in poverty for more than 130 years. But Covid has restricted its work over the past year, and its Crash Pad - a city centre property where youngsters can stay for a break - hasn’t been used since it opened early in 2020. Honorary Development Officer Mike Conway, who is heading a fundraising drive for the charity, said its ethos - providing items that some children would otherwise go without - is needed now more than ever, but the pandemic has put a strain on finances.

One man, who faces jail for his offending, is Kirmanj Kareem, who also uses the name Morad Omer Saleh, who admitted 13 offences of selling good with false trademarks and in illegal packaging, namely cigarettes.

A FAST-FOOD giant is set to replace a KFC restaurant that closed after more than a decade of serving fried chicken in a popular Bradford suburb. The long-standing Greengates branch, off Harrogate Road, at the busy crossroads, closed its doors for good on February 10 this year. A spokesperson for KFC said the company had had a good run at the location but that all good things must come to an end. They added: “We’ll miss our loyal fans but never say never to a restaurant opening nearby in the future. The staff working at the KFC were relocated to other locations and the nearest branches are now in Thornbury, Shipley or Holme Wood.

Shelf man appears in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving

1/1 A SHELF man has appeared before Bradford Magistrates Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving. The case, which has been sent to Bradford Crown Court because of its seriousness , relates to an accident which occurred on Wakefield Road, Bradford, on September 10, 2019. Christopher Windle, 21, of Carr House Road, Shelf, Halifax, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving after Stephen Tordoff, 18, died at the scene of the crash. Mr Windle, who attended Friday s hearing via a video link from Doncaster Prison, confirmed his name and date of birth. Five charges - including causing death by dangerous driving - were read to the Magistrate, Nadine Tidswell.
