Newton North High School hosting vaccine clinic

A vaccination clinic for the first dose of the Pfizer will open in Newton for residents over the age of 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 22 and 23 at Newton North High School, 457 Walnut St.
The second dose will be offered at clinics scheduled for June 12 and 13. The appointment for the second dose will be scheduled immediately after the first dose.
The clinic is the result of a partnership with the Holtzman Medical Group, the City’s Health and Human Services staff and the Newton Public Schools.
Students must be preregistered and accompanied to the clinic by a parent or legal guardian. Attendees should park in the Lowell Avenue parking lot and enter Newton North via the glass doors facing Lowell Avenue. Check-in is in the main lobby and the clinic is in the cafeteria.

NEWTON, MA More than 100 restaurant workers are set to be vaccinated Monday, thanks to a push from the Newton Needham Regional Chamber of commerce and collaboration across the city. We ve been worried about so many of our front-line workers, but particularly our restaurant workers, who are the only group who face people who are not wearing masks, Chamber President Greg Reibman said.
So the chamber reached out to the city, and Mayor Ruthanne Fuller connected them with the Holtzman Medical Group, which runs a clinic on the UMass Mount Ida campus. They were able to reserve 120 vaccination spots for those who work at local restaurants.

Educator Vaccines
Starting today, K-12 educators, school staff and child-care workers are eligible to register for the vaccine at CVS through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.
On Thursday, March 11, appointments will become available for educators at all 170 vaccination sites, and there will be designated days at the seven mass vaccination sites for educators. There are approximately 400,000 educators in Massachusetts, and the current estimation is it will take a month for all eligible individuals to secure first appointments. This timeframe may change depending on the federal supply of the vaccine.

Newton resident Dr. Justin Holtzman and the team at the Holtzman Medical Group worked with us on a wonderful opportunity to help our older residents who may be most vulnerable due to lack of access to technology and who have been facing difficulty in booking vaccination appointments.
Staff in the mayor’s office, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Senior Services has been fielding hundreds of calls and sharing the frustration that people are feeling in trying to get these very important appointments.
