Hoyt Hall and Sherman Hall Co-ops, mainstays in Berkeley housing, believe their gender-inclusive co-op housing provides a unique haven for LGBTQ+ students during the fall and spring semesters. Out of twenty co-ops available to students in Berkeley, Hoyt and Sherman Hall are the only co-ops in Berkeley dedicated solely to both women-identifying and non-binary persons. From wine and cheese nights to free pile fashion shows, we spoke to Mindy Dai, a Board Representative of Sherman Hall, and Berkeley Student Cooperative Recruitment Coordinator Cedar Caspar about the unique advantages of living in women and non-binary identifying housing.
