DeKALB – The Holmes Student Center will remain an early voting center for the upcoming consolidated elections in April, but will no longer be a registration center, DeKalb County Clerk Doug Johnson said.
“We used to do a registration center on Election Day, and we’ve pretty much eliminated registration since [the Illinois legislature] instituted registration at every polling place,” Johnson said. “A registration center isn’t needed since you can register at your polling place.”
What are consolidated elections?
The consolidated elections happen in odd-numbered years. This election, which always falls on the first Tuesday of April, is to elect municipal, township, park district, library district, school district, community college district, regional office of education trustees and fire district officials.
