Major £10m power network upgrade for Silsden - what you need to know | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

A MAJOR £10 million project will get underway in Silsden later this month to upgrade the power network which serves the town. Starting on Monday, May 24, and running until the end of 2024, the investment work consists of eleven separate schemes and focuses on replacing 5km of extra high voltage underground electricity cables, and 55km of overhead lines dating back to the 1960s, with more modern and sustainable alternatives. A new electricity substation is also being constructed. This new equipment will be capable of meeting any future increase in the demand for power as the town develops, the population grows and more people swap their cars for electric vehicles.

Breaking Serious accident shuts road TWO vehicles have been involved in a serious accident which has shut a road in both directions. Emergency services are on the scene at the A614 High Street in Holme on Spaulding Moor in East Yorkshire between Moor End and Howden Road which is now closed both ways due to a serious accident. Two vehicles are involved and it s affecting traffic between Drain Lane (Wholsea turn-off) and A163 High Street. Traffic is coping well. The accident happened at the Port Royal / Back Lane crossroads about half way along this stretch at about 4.30am and it s also affecting traffic between Howden and Market Weighton.

Holme-on-Spalding-Moor road closed for hours after serious crash in East Yorkshire The accident happened at around 4.30am Police have closed a road in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor after a serious crash. The accident happened at the Port Royal and Back Lane crossroads at around 4.30am on Friday and is affecting traffic between Howden and Market Weighton. Humberside Police tweeted in the early hours of Friday: Emergency services are in attendance at an RTC in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. The road is closed at the junction of the A614 (Moor End) with Back Lane and Port Royal. All adjoining roads are also closed while we deal with this. Please avoid the area if possible.
