Businesses encouraged to export organic farm products to North Europe Friday, 12:15, 09/07/2021
VOV.VN - Local businesses have been advised to develop organic food in an effort to boost fruit and vegetable exports to Nordic countries, according to the Vietnamese Trade Office in Sweden.
Due to having a cold climate throughout the year, Nordic countries are forced to import fruit and vegetables from other nations, a factor which has created an array of opportunities for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exporters to gain a foothold in these countries.
Most notably, the enforcement of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in August, 2020 brought about a range of advantages for domestic firms as import duties levied on fresh fruit and vegetables are slashed to 0%.

Vietnam imported more than 141,000 tonnes of pork
worth 334.4 million USD in 2020, representing a rise of 382 percent and 500 percent
over the previous year, respectively,
The increase in imports was to make up for the
shortage in pork supply caused
by African swine fever which pushed up domestic prices in the first months of
2020.
The pork was mainly imported from Brazil, Russia, Poland, the US and Canada.
Brazil was the largest exporter of
pork to Vietnam last year, accounting for
24.5 percent of the import volume.
The average pork import price was 2.2 USD per kilo.
The Hanoi Railway Transport JSC (HRT) earned 469 billion VND (20.5 million USD)
in the fourth quarter of 2020, down 21 percent year-on-year.
Cost of goods sold accounts for most of net revenue, thus gross profit totaled
only over 8 billion VND, down sharply compared to 42 billion VND in the same
period of 2019. After deducting expenses, the after-tax loss in Q4 was
estimated at nearly 55 billion VND, while in the same period last year its loss
was just more than 12.5 billion VND.
In 2020, HRT achieved revenue of 1.94 trillion VND, down 24 percent
year-on-year. It suffered a loss of 195 billion VND in the year while enjoying
profit of 14 billion VND in 2019.

higher rate.
The decision comes after the MoIT launched an investigation in
September 2020 to see if sugar imported from Thailand had received subsidies
