What are the best high schools in New York state? U.S. News and World Report has released its 2021 rankings of nearly 24,000 public high schools nationwide, including 1,281 schools in the Empire State.
Five schools in Central New York made the top 100, led by New Hartford Senior High School for the third year in a row. New Hartford ranked No. 67 across the state with a 100% graduation rate and a 59.2 college readiness score.

HORNELL - A new two-story development is planned for the Maple City as Hornell continues to attract the eye of developers.
Hornell RRC LLC is planning to build a mixed-use structure at 18 Park Dr. that will offer both commercial and residential space. The first floor will feature 3,200 square feet for commercial endeavors, with three apartments on the second floor.
“Depending on who would lease it or rent the space out, (the first floor) could either be one space or they could divide it into two spaces,” said Hornell Mayor John Buckley. “The upstairs would be three apartments. It’s a nice project. They have a history of doing these projects, especially up in Honeoye Falls

In a year when it seems we could all use a little extra magic, the Birdsong Fairy Trail in Western New York could be the perfect combination of fresh air, whimsy, and a little bit of pixie dust.
Once built in Tinker Falls, the fairy community is now nestled in Mendon Ponds Park in Honeoye Falls, just outside of Rochester. The park is the largest of all the Monroe Country parks with 2,500 acres to explore and 30 miles of self-guided trails. The quickest way to find the fairies is to enter the park is to enter on Williams Road, next to the Wild Wings Nature Center.
