SABOTAGE is suspected after allotment crops died in mysterious circumstances in South Marston. Green-fingered Derek Oxby was devastated to discover half of his crops had perished while the other half had grown perfectly well. Mr Oxby, 58, has two butts that he uses to water each end of the Highworth Road allotment and now suspects the one nearest to the dying crops has been contaminated – perhaps deliberately. Onions, lettuces, cabbages and runner beans were ruined. He said: “I am gutted, it’s savage. I want to pull the dead crops up tonight because I can’t stand looking at them like this.”
