Legolas and Aragorn are among the last of 13 dogs that Highland Lakes Canine Rescue took in from a total of 90 dogs removed from a Burnet-area home earlier this year. Burnet County sheriff’s deputies found the dogs in a manufactured home with dilapidated walls and holes in the floor. Some were trapped underneath the floor and in the walls. Most of the dogs weighed 25 pounds or less and shared similar physical characteristics.
Amplify Austin Day raises $12.5 million for Central Texas nonprofits

AUSTIN, Texas - I Live Here I Give Here (ILHIGH) says that the ninth annual community-wide day of giving, Amplify Austin Day, raised more than $12.5 million in 2021 for 686 participating nonprofit organizations spanning seven Central Texas counties.
The 24-hour day of giving began at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 4 and ended on Friday, March 5.
In addition to providing the online giving platform, through the Amplify Fund, ILHIGH says it raised more than $325,000 in matching gifts and prizes available to participating nonprofits to incentivize their campaigns.

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue is already benefiting from Amplify Austin Day, even though the special donation event is still more than a week away.
One anonymous donor through Amplify Austin has pledged to match the first $10,000 to the local dog rescue, while another has offered a $25,000 matching grant to be distributed among all animal care and service nonprofits.
