UK label Big Dada is relaunching as a label run by Black, POC & minority ethnic people for Black, POC & minority ethnic artists.
The Ninja Tune sub-label, which launched in 1997, has previously released work by the likes of Hype Williams, Roots Manuva and Young Fathers, and is now shifting its focus exclusively to music produced by Black and minority ethnic musicians. Working to amplify Black and racialised artists voices, Big Dada looks to shift the narrative around this music, bypassing stereotypes to allow and encourage freedom to express oneself for who they are and want to be, a statement shared by the label says. Pioneering hip-hop label Big Dada will relaunch as a label run by and for Black, POC and Minority Ethnic staff and artists, it has been announced.
The label was originally founded by hip-hop journalist Will Ashon in 1997. Ashon left the company in 2014.

A press release announcing the relaunch said the label wanted to “continue championing new artists across the musical spectrum whilst continuing to tip its hat to the foundations that built its legacy”.
A new mission statement was also shared, which read: “A team of like-minded individuals working together to form a community that champions, shines a light on, supports & nourishes the music & artists.

Amber Rasberry Secures the Title of Senior Film Executive for Amazon Studios

In the season of racial equality and diversity in leadership, former development director Amber Rasberry accepted the position of a senior film executive at Amazon Studios. With a long history in the film production industry, Rasberry has a portfolio supporting the well-deserved position as a senior film executive.
In general terms, the responsibilities of senior executives in the film industry include budget planning, scheduling, and production for series and pilots. They work closely with show producers and production managers. Rasberry will be in charge of day-to-day production and development of original movies and series for Amazon Studios. The report states that she will work with the following studio leaders: Julie Rapaport and Matt Newman.
