HAINES CITY, Fla. – A former Haines City High School coach and teacher is accused of sexually battering a female student while they were both inside his classroom’s closet on at least 10 different occasions, according to the Haines City Police Department.
Records show one of the victim’s family members became aware of an inappropriate relationship with Wayne McKenzie Ricks II, 29, and reported it.

While at school, Ricks would have the victim come to his classroom while he was alone and the two would have sex inside the classroom’s closet, according to authorities. Police said Ricks would text the girl to come to his class during school hours and provide an authorized pass for her.
Wayne Ricks, 29, was hired at the high school in August of 2020.

HAINES CITY, Fla. A former Haines City high school teacher was arrested Tuesday evening for sexually engaging a student for months, the city s police department says.
Wayne Ricks, 29, was arrested on 10 counts of sexual battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 18. According to police, the former basketball coach had been involved with the student since the fall, including on-campus.
Police say Ricks would have the student come to his classroom while he was alone and the two would have intercourse in a closet. A friend of the student who was in the classroom on most occasions said it happened around 10 times, officers said. The two would spend time with each other outside of school as well, according to police.

HAINES CITY, Fla. - Wayne McKenzie Ricks II, 29, a teacher at Haines City High School, was arrested on 10 counts of custodial sexual battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 18 after police say he was dating and having sex with a student.
According to the Haines City Police Department, Ricks would have the victim come to his classroom while he was alone and the two would have intercourse in a closet. Another student and friend of the victim who was in the classroom at the time recalled observing the two walk into the closet to have sex on about 10 occasions, police said. The victim told detectives that sexual contact also took place inside of Ricks vehicle.
