Hyderabad: Charminar which is a famous place for Eid shopping is witnessing huge crowd. Despite the threat of COVID-19 spread, people are seen violating physical distancing norms and other COVID-19 protocols.
Ever since the imposition of the night curfew in Telangana, people started going out for shopping during the daytime. The huge crowds are also being witnessed at Gulzar Houz, Laad Bazar, Shahran, Pathergatti, Patel market, and other nearby places. Apart from Eid shopping, non-Muslim’s wedding season also contributing to the crowd at Charminar.

A day after it was alleged that at least three COVID-19 patients at District Hospital, King Koti, died due to lack of oxygen, top officials from the Health department descended on the hospital on Monday.
Several reports suggested that three to five patients at the government hospital died on Sunday afternoon due to oxygen shortage. However, the hospital superintendent issued a clarification stating the news was incorrect. “The hospital has adequate stock of oxygen. There is a 13KL Liquid Oxygen Tank (LOT) for oxygen storage. We have bulk cylinders for backup. The three patients were on assisted ventilation and in a critical condition,” superintendent Rajendranath stated.

It has become a game of cat-and-mouse game between law enforcement and predatory or fake lending apps in the country. Even as various police departments in the country are cracking down on these apps which mushroomed during the pandemic some of these apps are re-branding themselves and restarting operations. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which has been actively monitoring the issue, believes that these apps will continue to operate
for at least a year, if not more.
Over the last year, a number of unauthorised digital lending apps popped up on Google’s Play Store and other Android app store. But these apps charge exorbitant fees and interest rates, and resort to extortion and blackmail tactics to collect payments from borrowers. As a result, a number of borrowers have committed suicide beginning in October last year.
Avoid coming to police stations, lodge online complaints: Anjani Kumar

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anjani Kumar, in view of the recent surge in COVID-19 across the state and as safety measure, appealed to the public to avoid visiting police stations. Instead, the public may lodge their complaints online.
The public can dial numbers of the patrolling vehicles of their areas’ police stations or call the Inspector to lodge their complaints.
The Police Commissioner has instructed the police personnel to maintain social distancing while dealing with the public.
Anjani Kumar appealed to the public to avoid staging protests, dharnas or rallies.
