EGGstravaganza Returns to Lake Superior Zoo

Fox21Online April 3, 2021 The 2021 EGGstravaganza returned to the zoo after being cancelled the year before due to Coronavirus restrictions. Nearly 2,000 people came from around the Northland Saturday to pick up eggs, collect candy and other activities. Tickets for the EGGstravaganza sold out earlier this week. Zoo leadership is happy to see the holiday tradition continue during the pandemic. “Even with those capacity limits in place, we’re able to welcome people back to the zoo. And it’s just great to see fun at the zoo again, having fun for Easter, and just getting back to some sense of normalcy,” said Haley Cope, Chief Executive Officer at Lake Superior Zoo.

Easter traditions return to the Northland

Created: April 03, 2021 04:39 PM Easter was one of the first holidays of 2020 to be overtaken by COVID-19. One year later, the threat of the pandemic still looms, but with more and more people getting vaccinated, many Easter traditions are returning. On Saturday, families had the opportunity to meet the Easter bunny at both the Fairlawn Mansion in Superior and the Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth. At the Fairlawn Mansion, tour guide Mac Jardine, said they had a full day of people scheduled to visit. “With green grass starting to come out and plants starting to grow, it’s nice to see the outside world a little bit and get some fresh air,” Jardine said.

Lake Superior Zoo Revue: Meet The Pallas Cat

It is time once again to go behind the scenes at Lake Superior Zoo to learn more about one of their attractions The Pallas cat named Pabu. This beautiful animal is housed in the Nocturnal building at the Lake Superior Zoo which is now open to the public again. This small wild cat can be found in cold and hilly areas in Central Asia and Western China. Pallas cats like some household cats are solitary animals, meaning they like to be on their own and enjoy their own space.  They are about the size of an average house cat but seem to be much larger due to their long dense coat. Pabu seems to like to watch guests as they visit some of the exhibits near them like the Prehensile-tailed porcupine but will quickly retreat when approached.
