WATCH: Keeping Up with the Kandasamys trailer drops for third release on Netflix

When the local comedy, âKeeping up with the Kandasamysâ first released in 2017, it broke box-office records in South Africa.
Produced by Helena Spring and the late Junaid Ahmed, the movie marked Jayan Moodleyâs directorial debut.
Of course, had you watched the film, which followed the drama around two overbearing mothers - and former BFFs - forced to put aside their ongoing feud after their children fall in love, you would have been in stitches.
Jailoshini Naidoo was brilliant as the snobbish Jennifer Kandasamy.
And Maeshni Naicker was a hoot as she slipped into graceless skin of Shanti Naidoo. Both lived next door to each other, too.

‘Always On My Mind / In My House’ from
Introspective (1989)
“Hang on, didn’t this go to number one?” Nope, that was the earlier, brash electro-pop take of their Elvis cover, which had its charm. But this nine-minute album version, interpolated with a mesmeric house jam, is in another league, another universe. Among
Introspective’s many triumphs, that LP somehow turned diffidence into euphoria, pushed introversion front and centre onto the dancefloor. This track soars rapturously, repeatedly, on a rising synth line, yet beneath the pleading affirmations the group’s trademark ambiguity is never far away. “Maybe I didn’t love you…” it ends – and transported, you are no more certain than before.

Recently launched streaming service Topic from First Look Media has struck a deal with London-based content development, financing and executive producing company Fugitive to air exclusively in North America from 8 April Poppie Nongena, one of South Africa’s most acclaimed films of recent years.
Based on Elsa Joubert’s 1978 international bestseller The Long Journey of Poppie Nongena, regarded as one of the best African novels of the 20th century, the two-hour film tells the true-life story of a mother’s struggle to keep her family together during the Apartheid period, specifically just prior to the Sharpeville and Soweto riots. It’s a time of immense upheaval, when inhumane government regulations constantly separated husbands, wives and children, often resettling them in remote areas designated as black homelands.
