A high-profile Liberal party power broker has been linked to an alleged scheme to remove sitting local councillors, in claims made to a corruption inquiry into Drummoyne MP John Sidoti.
Liberal party-aligned lobbyist Joe Tannous was this week named as a friend of Mr Sidoti, who is under investigation for the possible misuse of his position to influence councillors from 2011-2018.
Mr Tannous is not under investigation.

Drummoyne MP John Sidoti allegedly engineered a plan to dislodge two sitting Liberals from a 2017 council preselection ticket in place of two others, including a 21-year-old from his own electorate office.
Canada Bay Liberal councillor Michael Megna told a town planner in 2017 that Mr Sidoti held concerns about councillors Mirjana Cestar and Helen McCaffrey, shortly after they voted down a lengthy campaign to rezone blocks where the Sidoti family held property.
