A LEADING cancer charity has warned the Irish public to be sun smart - as temperatures continue to soar after the hottest day of the year yesterday.

And the Marie Keating foundation warned that the UV index, which measures the strength of the ultraviolet radiation of the sun, is between 6-7 which registers as high.
They urged anyone spending time outdoors today to ensure they protect their skin and reduce the risk of sun burn and skin cancer.
Jennifer Cinnerman, Director of Communications and Engagement at Marie Keating said: It has been such a challenging 15 months for everyone that it is only natural that now we have some good weather and an easing of restrictions that people want to get out to enjoy the sun.
The opening of the new ultra-modern, trailblazing St Patrick’s Special School in Enniscorthy has dominated conversation in the county and is said to be the best ‘Good News’ story to come out of Wexford by a long shot.
