For the first episode of the 19
th series, which returned on 16th April, Helen Lawal travelled to one of the world’s biggest coffee factories to find out how instant cappuccinos get their froth, Matt Tebbutt headed to Naples to discover why most tinned tomatoes come from Italy, and Kate Quilton embarked on a panettone odyssey to discover how the fluffy cake lasts so long.

Tea and coffee merchants John Farrer & Co, played a starring role on the Channel 4 s investigative food programme, Food Unwrapped. The show sets out to explore industry secrets behind the nation s favourite food and drink and was shown a week later than planned. The show aired last night (April 16). During the episode, which was filmed in November 2019, Farrer’s sales manager and barista trainer Brian Williams shows Dr Helen Lawal how to create the perfect espresso and explains the importance of ‘crema’ when it comes to crafting the perfect drink.
