Fleeing cops leads to shotgun shell find

Premium Content Subscriber only A man has been sentenced in Hervey Bay Magistrate Court over a road incident which quickly escalated. 31-year-old William Olen pleaded guilty to five charges, evading police, two counts of assaulting police, obstructing police and possessing explosives. Police Prosecutor Sonia Edwards said the incident happened on December 13 2020 at 2:15pm. She said police began to pursue Olen as he accelerated down Main St before he pulled into an address in Rose St Pialba where police confronted him. “The defendant provided his driver s licence and attempted to walk away from police to go into the dwelling and was advised he was detained and not free to leave,” Ms Edwards said.

Man cops fine for trying to contact former partner

Premium Content Subscriber only ATTEMPTING to contact his former partner has resulted in a man facing Hervey Bay Magistrate Court on two counts of contravening a domestic violence order. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to the charges on Friday. The court heard he had attempted to contact his former partner via texts and video calls. Teen accused of twerking on a McDonald s counter and doing handstands faces public nuisance charges

01:38 EDT, 15 December 2020 A teenager allegedly climbed a McDonald s restaurant counter and twerked as cops tried to arrest her before locking herself in a public bathroom.  Layla Cheyne North, 18, from Dalby in south west Queensland, is also accused of assaulting police the following day outside one of the town s local pubs.  Ms North s alleged disruption of the fast food restaurant began about 12:30am on November 20 when she repeatedly began twerking and doing handstands, a court heard on Tuesday. IN COURT: Truck thief appears on long list of charges

Premium Content Subscriber only ALLEGED truck thief Rhys Perks has appeared in Hervey Bay Magistrate Court on a string of charges. For an incident on December 11, he was charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of attempted robbery, evasion, possessing dangerous drugs and driving while suspended. Magistrate Stephen Guttridge said I note on your history that you have a previous failure to appear matter on January 7 2021 and you have another failure to appear … you are in a very dire position. Mr Perks opted for the matters to be adjourned until 8:30 Monday December 14 for further mention and was remanded in custody.
