A Queensland woman has been told she will have to wait for as long as a year before a specialist is available to advise her whether her breast-implants, which have been nationally recalled, have potentially given her cancer and can be removed.
Danielle of Hervey Bay, received TSF-450 implants in November 2015. The Therapeutic Goods Administration issued a recall of these implants in October last year due to a link to a rare type of cancer called Breast Implant Associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma.
While authorities say the risk of the cancer is low, and that explant surgery poses a greater risk, as recently as last week Victorian health authorities urged women who noticed âswelling caused by fluid around the implant, as well as pain, rashes or lumpsâ to seek treatment immediately.

Hundreds of people on the Fraser Coast have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Figures released by Queensland Health show 891 people have been vaccinated at Hervey Bay Hospital, while 592 people received the vaccination at Maryborough Hospital.
At neighbouring Bundaberg Hospital, 1368 people received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
These numbers are only based on public health vaccinations at the region’s hospitals.
People can go to the Federal Government’s online Vaccine Eligibility Checker to find out if they are included in the current phase and locations near them where they can schedule a vaccination appointment.
The Federal Government is leading the rollout of the national COVID-19 vaccination program, primarily through primary health care such as GPs.
The crash happened just before 9am on Monday on the Esplanade at Point Vernon. Three patients were taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
