Reply Menendez, Booker, Cortez Masto, Colleagues Push to Address Mental Health Equity, Access for Youth in Minority Communities (Image Credit (Menendez Senate)) WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee that sets national health policy, Cory Booker (D-N.J.), and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today led their Senate colleagues in introducing the bicameral Pursuing Equity in Mental Health Act. This bill would address growing issues of suicide and mental health facing young people, particularly in socially and economically disadvantaged communities that have disproportionately faced disparities in access to mental health treatment and outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Animal connections Alumnus Patrick Carroll leads Delaware Humane Association In an era where many people shift jobs with regularity, University of Delaware alumnus Patrick Carroll spent the past decade and a half connecting people with animals at the Delaware Humane Association (DHA). It’s an organization best known for its pet adoption services, but also offers spay and neuter services, low-cost vaccination clinics, a pet food pantry and works with wavering pet owners to keep pets in their homes.   “We’ve evolved into a full-resource center for pet owners,” said Carroll, who graduated from UD in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. “We do whatever is needed in the community whether it is humane education, low-cost veterinary care and training.”

MONTICELLO — William Leo Johnson passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 8, 2020, at home in Monticello. William, better known by his friends and family as “Bill” or “B,” was born on March 16, 1954, in Rochester, Minn., to Dr. William S. and Charlotte Keck Johnson. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Charles Johnson of Champaign and Reid Thomas Johnson of Indianapolis, both of whom brought him joy and would make him light up when talking about them to others. Also surviving him are his brother, David L. Johnson (Teresa) of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and former wife of 38 years, Peggy Johnson of Indianapolis.
