1/1 MORE than 100 Southampton care home residents with coronavirus have died in under a year, data has revealed. New figures from the Care Quality Commission have shown that between April 10, 2020, and March 31, 2021, a total of 123 death notifications involving Covid-19 were recorded at 21 of the city s care homes. Following the data s release, CQC bosses have called for consideration and respect to be shown to those living in care homes, as well as families and staff affected by loss. The South East proved to be one of the highest areas for deaths involving the virus in care homes as the CQC s data shows 7,404 death were recorded in the 11 month period.

Marwell Activity Centre submits plan for holiday lodges

Marwell Activity Centre. Picture: Google Streetview. PLANNING chiefs are studying proposals to build 40 holiday lodges at a Hampshire attraction that sees 25,000 visitors a year. Marwell Activity Centre is seeking consent to construct the timber lodges in a new area of native woodland at its site off Hurst Lane, Owslebury. The family-run centre, which opened about 40 years ago, is in the South Downs National Park. It originally applied for planning permission for more than 50 lodges but has now submitted a revised scheme. The application says: The revisions reduce the number of lodges from 52 to 40 to allow a spacious layout and maximise the area for native woodland.

The GP Patient Survey has revealed Hampshire and the Isle of Wight’s best and worst doctors surgeries in 2021, according to residents who rely on their services. Residents were asked for their opinion on a variety of elements about their practice, from booking appointments, waiting times, out-of-hours services and the quality of care given. Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, surveys were handed out to patients and 850,206 surveys were completed and returned. Overall, practices in the Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG recorded an 83 per cent positive satisfaction rating, remaining at the same level as the national average.
