GP patient survey reveals the best and worst practices

(Images: PA & Google Street View) THE RESULTS from the annual survey of patients on all aspects of their GP have been published. The GP Patient Survey has revealed Hampshire and the Isle of Wight’s best and worst doctors surgeries in 2021, according to residents who rely on their services. Residents were asked for their opinion on a variety of elements about their practice, from booking appointments, waiting times, out-of-hours services and the quality of care given. Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, surveys were handed out to patients and 850,206 surveys were completed and returned. Overall, practices in the Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG recorded an 83 per cent positive satisfaction rating, remaining at the same level as the national average.

PLANS have been released for a new Aldi store at Hedge End Retail Park. Leaflets have been sent out to nearby residents as the company launches its consultation on one of its latest stores. It is said that if the store gets the go ahead, up to 30 jobs could be created, paying more than the National Living Wage. The 1,315 sqm site is also expected to utilise sustainable techniques and modern materials. This comes less than a month after the company released a list of all the locations it would like to set up stores, with Hedge End featuring as well as Eastleigh and Southampton.

Tribute to ex RAF pilot and OS draughtsman Bill Neilson

HE was an ex RAF pilot who worked for Ordnance Survey for nearly four decades and was a well-known and popular face around his Hampshire village. North Baddesley s best dressed walker, Bill Neilson was a generous man who always had time for everyone. He passed away last month following a short illness, aged 97. Born in Fife in 1923, Bill was a proud Scotsman. At the tender age of 18, he enlisted in the RAF and his lifelong love of planes and flying began. Training took place in America and Bill travelled there on the Queen Mary. He gained his wings in Ponca City, Oklahoma in the spring of 1943, aged 19, and returned there many times over the years.
