MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - An officer with the Collierville Police Department has been awarded a prestigious award.
Officer Phillip Redwine was awarded a Purple Heart Monday night after sustaining injuries during an investigation in February.
Redwine was checking out a suspicious vehicle near a business on Houston Levee Road where two men were parked.
CPD says when Redwine attempted to interview the driver, he put the vehicle in reverse, took off and hit Redwine.
Two Collierville police officers are slowly getting back to work three months after getting dragged by a suspect s car.
Police officers Jacqueline Conlan and Rachel Tigner were honored Monday night at the Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting with the Law Enforcement Purple Heart award, issued to law enforcement officers injured or killed in the line of duty. Can t tell you how proud that I am and that the board is that we know you and that you were spared, although injured, you were spared your lives and we re thankful to God for that, said Mayor Stan Joyner to the two officers.
