LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - After opening the season losing three games to Top 10 teams, the 10th ranked Red Raiders let their bats do the talking Friday afternoon, when a 21 hit attack led to an 18-3 win over Houston Baptist at Rip Griffin Park.
Texas Tech hit six home runs, including two from Jace Jung.
Red Raider Brandon Birdsell went 4.1 innings allowing five hits and two runs.
Texas Tech exploded for 8 runs in the second and 7 runs in the third to open up a 15-0 lead.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The short-handed McNeese Cowgirls (2-1, 2-0 SLC) topped Houston Baptist (0-4-1, 0-3 SLC) in Southland Conference women’s soccer action Friday afternoon in a 3-1 victory behind goals from Anna Watson, Olivia Broussard, and Magalie Depot.
With the win the Pokes advance to 2-1 overall, and 2-0 in league play, while the Huskies fall to 0-4-1 overall, and 0-3 in SLC play. As of Friday afternoon, McNeese and Northwestern State tied atop the league standings at 2-0.

BOTTOM LINE: Houston Baptist seeks revenge on McNeese State after dropping the first matchup in Houston. The teams last met on Jan. 23, when the Cowboys shot 48.3 percent from the field while limiting Houston Baptist to just 45.8 percent en route to the three-point victory.
SAVVY SENIORS: McNeese State has relied heavily on its seniors this year. Keyshawn Feazell, A.J. Lawson, Carlos Rosario, Dru Kuxhausen and Chris Orlina have combined to account for 64 percent of all Cowboys scoring this season, though that number has dropped to 50 percent over the last five games.
