Hyundai s luxury brand Genesis on Wednesday released its first electric vehicle, the G80 EV. The electric version of the G80 model has a solid radiator grille, as it is powered by an 87.2-kWh battery and thus there is no need to cool the engine. On a full battery, it can travel up to 427 km. With superfast charging, the battery can be charged up to 80 percent capacity in just 22 minutes. The G80 EV can accelerate from a full stop to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The EV is safer than the regular G80, with 17 percent greater body stiffness. The G80 EV is priced at W82.81 million, but taking into account government subsidies, out-of-pocket costs may well be under W80 million (US$1=W1,137).
