Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has sought the personal intervention of his cabinet colleagues handling the chemicals and fertilizers and shipping ministries to get 175 acres of land needed for state-owned Indian Oil Corporation s (IOC) Haldia refinery expansion project in West Bengal.
IOC is building a new processing unit to improve the quality and production capacity of lubricant base oils at its recently expanded 8-million tonnes a year refinery in Haldia, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal.

GUWAHATI: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on his third visit in one month to poll-bound Assam when he arrives at Dhemaji. His visit has been labelled as one that gives a push for developing a ‘modern Assam’ when he dedicates three projects of petroleum ministry worth over Rs 3,000 crore to the nation.
Modi will also open the first course of Dhemaji Engineering College and lay the foundation for construction of eight engineering colleges at Sualkuchi near Guwahati via video conference.
“This shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to develop a modern Assam,” chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said.

MAJULI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually launched the Mahabahu Brahmaputra project and laid the foundation stones of two bridges in Assam.
