Himanta Biswa Sarma, the new Chief Minister of Assam, remarked in an interview with Indian Express that he is thankful to Congress prince Rahul Gandhi for neglecting him and shunting him out of the Congress party, an insult that drove him to leave Congress and become Chief Minister of Assam.

One important point to be noted here is that a ministry headed by HBS but without Sri Sonowal is a probable proposition, but a ministry headed by Sri Sonowal without HBS as a member is almost an impossible proposition

GUWAHATI: Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday visited Covid Care Centres set up at the Sarusajai Sports Complex and Royal Global University on Friday and inspected the arrangements there. He also spoke to patients recuperating at the centres.
While talking to the positive patients over the loud speaker, Sonowal told them that the government is all prepared to provide best possible care to them. He also made it clear that in view of the spike, the government has also ramped up its infrastructure to make sure that nobody is deprived of getting treatment.

New Delhi [India], May 7 (ANI): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Friday condemned the post-poll violence in West Bengal and demanded that the newly-elected government in the state should immediately contain violence and effectively establish rule of law as its top priority.
The RSS also urged upon the union government to take necessary steps to establish peace in the state.
In a statement, Sarkaryavah (general secretary) of RSSDattatreya Hosabale said that the acts of violence appeared to be well conspired .

Kolkata/New Delhi: As the death toll in post-poll violence in West Bengal rose to 14 on Tuesday from six a day before, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialled governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and expressed “serious anguish and concern” over the “worrisome” law and order situation in the state. The 14 killed include nine BJP cadres in West Bengal, and four from TMC.
