Heather Lopez worked for Whirlpool in Iowa when she began experiencing unwanted touching from her co-worker.
Lopez said this co-worker rubbed her shoulders repeatedly, came up close behind her, and called her “baby” on one occasion.
She reported this conduct to HR. For the next two days, the co-worker continued to hover near her work station and invade her personal space. Lopez couldn’t take it anymore and resigned on the spot.

Washington State University is bolstering its support for employees who have questions about their ethical obligations under state law.
Sherry Gordon, former senior counsel for the Attorney General’s WSU office, was recently brought on to serve as the university’s ethics compliance advisor. In that role, Gordon will assist employees across the system with questions about topics such as contracting with state agencies, use of state resources and others that fall under the Ethics in Public Service Act.
“Ethics compliance is so critical,” Gordon said. “Being the person everyone can ask about it is something I appreciate and look forward to doing.”
Several Jacksonville law firms are beginning 2021 with new attorneys on their staffs.

Hunter Faulkner joined the Jimerson Birr law firm as partner.
Faulkner represents buyers and sellers in contract negotiations for the acquisition, sale and finance of residential and commercial real estate in Northeast Florida. His practice includes land use law, estate planning and corporate law.
A Navy veteran, Faulkner received his law degree from the University of Miami after graduating from the University of North Florida in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
He’s a member of the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association and the Jacksonville Bar Association.
