HILLSBOROUGH, NJ The Hillsborough Republican Party endorsed incumbent Mayor Shawn Lipani and long-time resident Steven Cohen as their two candidates for the 2021 election. We are incredibly fortunate to have such great community-minded, hard-working candidates as Mayor Shawn Lipani and Steven Cohen, said Hillsborough Republican Chairman Ken Scherer. These two gentlemen have always been willing to serve in some capacity for their community.
Lipani has served on the Hillsborough Township Committee since 2018 and previously served as Deputy Mayor in 2020. He has also served on a number of township boards including Hillsborough Planning Board, Somerset County Planning Board, Hillsborough EDBC, Hillsborough Board of Adjustment, Capital Planning Board, Tree Mitigation, and Youth Services Commission
Opinion: Hillsborough Republicans are contradictory in rules about appointing candidates
The letter written by Ken Scherer, chairman of the Hillsborough Township Republican Organization (Hillsborough Democrats are disregarding voters’ wishes, Hillsborough Beacon, Feb. 19), https://centraljersey.com/2021/02/17/opinion-hillsborough-democrats-are-disregarding-voters-wishes/ is disrespectful to the tens of thousands of Hillsborough voters who cast their ballots for Donetta Johnson, David Brook and Jeffrey Wright.
Yes, there are winners and losers in elections, but that does not give one the right to make disparaging comments and false judgments about individuals of another party and by implication question the wisdom of those Hillsborough residents who did vote for them.
