The hospitality industry is rolling out the red carpet if you want a job.

Faced with a dramatic shortage of restaurant, hotel, and banquet employees Chicago’s North Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau has created new online job board, with information about some 50 employers in and around Evanston who are looking to hire right now.
CNSCVB Executive Director Gina Speckman says the response to northshorejobboard.com so far has been excellent.
And many of the employers have more than one position available. For example, the Evanston-based caterer, Feast and Imbibe, lists “cooks, servers, event help, food truck drivers, delivery drivers, warehouse associates, line cooks, and pastry Chef” as open jobs.

But hotel s reopening is still in limbo.
The manager of the still-closed Hilton Orrington hotel says the hotel will refund the $7,500 prepayment made by a couple for their wedding celebration.
Earlier this month, Evanston Now reported on the dilemma facing 30-year-old Ryan Szymonik and 27-year old Taylor Caesario. The couple’s 150-guest wedding reception was scheduled at the Orrington on July 10.
But with the hotel closed since late last year, and nothing definite on when or if it would reopen, Ryan and Taylor said they made repeated phone calls and emails about getting their money back, but never received a reply.
