An interdisciplinary research team at Lehigh University has unraveled how functional biomaterials rely upon an interfacial protein layer to transmit signals to living cells concerning their adhesion, proliferation and overall development.
According to an article published today in
Scientific Reports, the nanoscale features and properties of an underlying substrate do not impact the biological response of cells directly. However, these properties indirectly influence cell behavior through their control over adsorbed proteins.

High drama was witnessed at Kharar when the car of Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi dropped a woman at a college in Khunimajra village where electronic voting machines (EVMs) have been kept for the counting of votes for the Kharar Municipal Council.
As soon as candidates contesting the elections learnt about this, they held a protest demanding that the woman should be asked to leave the college.

When the Nazis overran the country, her grandmother lost her home, was forced to wear a Star of David on her clothes and was taxed massive amounts. She watched each week as thousands of Jews were marched out of Vienna, and finally, they came for her, Dame Margaret said.
She recalled how her grandmother was later shot and killed in a trench outside a camp in Lithuania.
Ten days before she was transported there, she sent a letter to her son urging him twice not to forget her completely.
Dame Margaret said: For me that is the lightness and the darkness. I will never forget her and what she went through and I think none of us should.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday dedicated the Chandigarh-Kharar elevated corridor to the citizens as a New Year gift, paving the way for further economic development of the region while easing the perpetual traffic congestion along the route.
The Chief Minister termed the corridor project – from Sector-39 roundabout (CH.0+000), Chandigarh to Khanpur (CH.10+185) – as the fulfilment of a long-pending need of the people of the region. With the opening of the third phase of the corridor on December 28, the project is now 96% complete, with the remaining (one side of the road at Khanpur) expected to be completed by mid January 2021.
