Cautions the government not to be casual in dealing with Covid-19 cases in case there is a third wave as predicted by experts
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy was dealing with PILs related to the Covid-19 infection.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the state government to furnish details of its strategy to deal with the third wave of Covid-19 infection that is being predicted by experts, during which children will be the most vulnerable. This time, the government should not be caught napping, Chief Justice Hima Kohli cautioned.
The ambulance was stopped at the Panchalingala check-post on NH-44 in Kurnool district.
Even as the tragedy struck, Telangana high court on Friday stayed a circular issued by the state government restraining entry of ambulances carrying Covid patients from neighbouring states into its territory.
Terming the May 11 circular by the state as ‘discriminatory’ and saying it “violates the right to life as guaranteed by the Constitution and runs contrary to the provisions of the Epidemics Act and Disaster Management Act,” a bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy issued notices to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and central governments, asking them to file counters.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday stayed the implementation of a circular issued by the state government on May 11, with guidelines to streamline the influx of ambulances carrying Covid-19 patients from other states into Telangana for hospitalisation.
The court made it clear that the orders would come into effect forthwith, as against the police waiting for receipt of an order copy from the court.
HYDERABAD: Wondering who took the decision to block ambulances, carrying patients to be admitted to hospitals in Hyderabad, at the state border, the Telangana high court on Tuesday directed police not to prevent entry of such vehicles.
Terming the action as contrary to the Right to Life, a bench of chief justice Hima Kohli and justice B Vijaysen Reddy said the state was free to issue statements asking people not to come to its hospitals because they were already full. “You can issue such an advisory to prevent people from thronging to your hospitals, but you can’t do the same through border blockades,” it said.
