The COVID-19 cases in Telangana does not show a declining trend, but is fluctuating. 7,646 new infections and 53 deaths are recorded on Monday, the health department said in a bulletin. This is a slight dip from Thursday’s numbers of 7,994 cases and 58 deaths.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court on Tuesday found fault with the state government for apparently hiding the real number of Covid-19 deaths and directed it to disclose all such details. “Let there be display boards at the crematoriums and burial grounds that depict the true picture,” the judges said. The bench refused to believe the death figures being furnished by the state and sought to know the number of electric crematoriums in Hyderabad and in the state. It said that it was hearing a disturbing trend of dead bodies piling up in hospitals and burial grounds. Perturbed over distressing accounts emanating from hospitals and burial grounds along with the high positivity rate in Telangana’s districts, the court reviewed the supply situation of essentials like oxygen and drugs. It also directed the state to conduct an oxygen audit.

While hearing complaints about harassment of Coronavirus patients and their attendants by hospital staff, ambulance drivers and crematorium workers, the High Court advised the state government to look into such complaints and resolve them.   Referring to a report in Deccan Chronicle on Tuesday, which highlighted the deplorable conditions of Covid19 patients and their family members at TIMS, Chief Justice Hima Kohli said these were issues to be looked into and handled by the government.
